Chris Addison - The Ape
that got lucky

Fringe
Programme page 23 |
Chris Addison is somewhat
different from the average comedian at the Fringe this year in that
he 'plays up' his middleclass heritage.
He is a bit different as well,
due to his show being almost a lecture, albeit a comical one on what
makes ,the difference between man and the apes. One of his opening
lines is that humans and chimps share 98% of the same DNA.
He then lists the main
characteristic differences that separate the two species. Very
interesting, but there were times that I felt I should be taking
notes to assist in getting my degree.
The is the occasional use of
props, a filing cabinet and a coat rack being the most obvious,
together with an ease with subject cards, indicating the five main
differences between the species.
So, if you like your comedy of
a more sophisticated nature, then Chris is an act you'd enjoy, and
he would also appeal as something different for anyone.
