Greggs the Musical, 7 Bridies
for 7 Brothers!!! I must admit this had me intrigued. How could
there be a musical based around a chain of Bakeries? The short
answer is a very amusing, somewhat surreal, but always totally crazy
comedy with the odd burst of parodied songs, normally from other
stage musicals.
This was always going to be a comedy
rather than a musical, the four characters, Margaret, Margaret,
Fiona and ‘Beaverley’ all start off working in the bakery, as
Greggs Angels for the disembodied voice of Mr Gregg, Craig Hill.
The audience are treated as customers,
and Margaret No1, Jill Peacock, is very adept at this part of the
show. One lady loses the contents of her handbag on one occasion,
only to ‘inherit’ parts of a sausage roll.
I would have thought that this would
have had a particularly ‘Scottish’ appeal, but the audience I
was part of, was definitely multi-national and was enthusiastically
appreciated by one and all.
So who is sabotaging Greggs? To find out
be quick and visit the bakery yourself to find out.
