Ida Barr - Artificial
Hip-hop

Fringe
Programme page 33 |
I
expected an elderly lady in a wheel chair signing old music-hall songs.
Crippled with arthritis and not long having had a Hip replacement.
Instead I was faced with a go-getting old dame of the theatre whose
up beat slant on life almost puts my staid self to shame.
Her anecdotes hip-hop / rap stories are fun and what she can do
with a lovely bunch of coconut's is amazing.
The
title is actually very clever Ida rap’s and puts a hip-hop slant to old
music hall numbers, stories of her life and she also uses some of the
actual words or phrases from some r’n’b songs.
I
had great fun despite the intimate venue, which can only be described as cozy.
Cult followings have
developed round far less deserving performances.
