I suppose that this is an
ideal way to get a taste of various acts that are gracing the Fringe
this year and Mr Beige has both Mervyn Stutter and Nicholas Parsons
as rivals in this sort of show.
A lot can depend on the guests
as to how enjoyable the 90 minutes are, but this at least has a
proven entertainer to keep the pace going in the event of the guests
failing to deliver.
The show I saw had Lenny
introducing Bounce, the dance sensation that is selling out at
Assembly, Chris Neil chatting about his show at the Dome, the Fringe
director Paul Gudgin, giving an insight to his job, Wishbone a
physical Theatre act from Komedia, Elvis the girl and the legendry
Phil Cool both performing at Crown Plaza.
Each were on for about 10
minutes or so, the rest being Lenny Beige and a game of bingo to win
show tickets.
I have only ever seen him on
television before, but having seen the seemingly effortless
professionalism he brought to proceedings my admiration for him has
increased. I don't think it would matter who were the guests, our
host is worth the admission money by himself.
