Just when I thought I would be
going through the entire Fringe without experiencing
‘old-fashioned’ impro- comedy, I went to watch Text in the City.
Five comedians, including the legendary
Steve Frost and Steve Steen, performed with verve and the ‘New
Technology’ aspect, i.e. suggestions by mobile phone text messages
certainly gave the suggestions a new slant.
It wasn’t only this method, they did
take suggestions shouted from the audiences as well, and this worked
equally as well. The audience was not the largest I have seen this
Fringe, but the enjoyment value certainly was as there and then
some.
Tara, Ian and Becky were more than
capable of holding their own, and played an important part in making
this an excellent hour plus experience.
There
will probably be a changing line up at other performances, but if
they are half as good as the performers I saw, well, you certainly
will have a value for money show.
