We are maintaining the site with reviews from any shows we go to see between Fringes as well as any news flashes we get from various sources anything you think might be of interest we will gladly add to the site. Thank you for all your help and we look forward to hearing from you all and hopefully meeting you in the future.

Saturday 4th January 2003

Happy New Year

Best wishes from Geoff and Sheila
2002 has been a very good year for us, we went out on our own and managed to cover quite a bit of the fringe between us. Geoff and I have made many good friends since we started reviewing 7 years ago and hope to keep up with you all in 2003. We also hope to cover more non fringe shows and possibly start some film reviews.  Remember your personal reviews are welcome.  The first of our non fringe reviews is Miss Saigon, enjoy.
Saturday 28th December 2002
We hope everyone has had a Very Merry Christmas, despite the news about the Gilded Balloon.  We have published photographs of the remains of the building which you will find by following the Gilded Balloon link.
Geoff and I wish you all the Happiest of New Year's and hope to see and hear from you in 2003.

Urgent Devastating News

After an extensive fire in Edinburgh the "Gilded Balloon Venue" in  the Cowgate, one of the most popular and prestigious venues of the Fringe has been damaged so badly it may require demolition. The loss of the GB will have wide ranging repercussions for performers and audiences alike and our thoughts and best wishes are with Karen Koren and her team.

Wednesday 20th November 2002.
We are changing to monthly updates unless we have any exciting news
"Girls' Night Out"

Saturday  7th  September  2002.
Livin La Vida Loca added to the non Fringe reviews.

Wednesday  4th September  2002
The final word on the progress of Mr Howdy Do (So far).
The final total (after a small but very appreciative last night crowd) is:  1452 people in 1939 seconds, an average of 1.3 seconds per person (this remained remarkably constant after the first week - I guess that's the natural 'fastest possible greeting rate'!)
So we didn't hit 1500 - BUT there's a guy who wants to take the show to an English speaking theatre in Warsaw, so if that comes off we'll be starting the total from where we left off!

Saturday  31st August 2002.
Festival Fireworks tonight.  The last few reviews have been posted and more photographs added.  We will keep adding photographs and illustrations as well as starting on our non Fringe reviews.

Wednesday  28th  August  2002.
Out of the number of shows we have seen I’m finding it difficult to make any selections for my pick of the Fringe.  Geoff has had his say now it’s my turn.
Firstly stand up comedy having seen fewer of the so-called big names apart from Jason Byrne, Omid Djalili and at the last gasp Adam Hills who were all fantastic.  My top stand-up was Kev F. his rude health had me in hysterics, with both Francesca Martinez and Norman Lovett in close succession.
Comedy shows again follow closely in Geoff’s choices with the addition of Zipp! – 100 Musicals in 90 minutes, Jason Wood in Bare Camp and The Naked Samoans.
Theatre is such a broad field with several musicals in disguise so starting with Drama, Fifteen Minutes, Blood and Rite of Passage are the three which stood out for me.  Those with music Bomb-itty of Errors was fantastic as was The Dreaming by NYMT and A Midsummer nights Rock.
Musicals which are probably my favorite category starting with Chess, Kebab, The Bubble and special mention to a production way out on its own Anonimo Napolitano. It was great to see Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens back where it should be, part of the Edinburgh Fringe.
Not many shows were seen in the music and others categories and whilst the shows I saw were good none of them stand out over the others.
Yet again I would like to thank all the performers who made me laugh or cry for one reason or another, as well as those who persisted in getting us to review their shows.
We will now start adding pictures to those reviews we have something to add to, also adding past reviews from 1999, 2000 and 2001 which should expand the site and let others see what we have done in the past.
Please contact us if we can help you in anyway and we look forward to seeing both old and new friends next year.

For all Fringe 2002 shows the title of each entry will go black as the review is published and added to the list below.

Tuesday  27th  August  2002.
Geoff's pick of the fringe.
So there we have it, Fringe 2002 is over!!
It has been for us at one4review.com a very busy and generally excellent Fringe. We have renewed many old acquaintances, made lots of new friends, seen loads of excellent shows... and a few we'd choose to forget, fortunately out of the 158 we have seen it's only a very few bad ones.
It is very difficult to pick my favorite, but I'll attempt to list a few that I have really enjoyed.
Starting with stand-up for me Boothby Grafoe, Omid Djalili, Phil Nichol and Ross Noble were the pick of a generally superb bunch.
Comedy shows would have to include Newsrevue 2002, Revolution, The Treason Show, Ronaldo ate my credit card and of course The Blacksheep were standouts.
Musicals, well Saucy Jack and the Spacevixens, Kebab the Musical, Chicago, They're Playing our Song and Closer than Ever would have to be my nominations.
Theatre, in all it's variations, is possibly the hardest to highlight, but here goes, Somehow I feel dirty, Jack Pleasure, Gladiatrix, she-wolf of Rome and the excellent Blood would be there or there abouts.
Music and others, well I didn't see too many in these categories, but certainly one of the top three of the entire Fringe would be Naked Voices and a very different dance piece Such stuff as we are made of would have to take the awards in this category.
one4review.com will now be turning it's attention to non-Fringe shows for the next 11 months.
Still, it won't belong until June 2003 until the next years programme is released and then the circus starts to roll again.

Monday  26th  August  2002.
It's all over once again 9 months till the Programme for 2003 is out and we start all over again, not that we will be resting some final reviews are yet to be posted and photographs and updates added.  We will be working to repopulate our reviews for 1999, 2000 and 2001.
Geoff and I would like to thank everyone involved in making this Fringe our most successful yet!  We refer not only to performers but Venue staff, all press office staff, all promotional staff and friends old and new for recommendations, comments on the site and a great time.
Please keep an eye on the site and let us know if you are in the area, otherwise we hope to see you in 2003.
